The Landscape

Volcanic ridges, terraced vineyards and the sudden drop of the caldera give the island its unmistakable geometry.

A clarity of light that painters have chased for a century — sharp at midday, honeyed at dusk.

Whitewashed cubic architecture, blue timber shutters, quiet interior courtyards and hand-lettered signs.

Chalk, ochre, iron red, cobalt and the deep Aegean blue that carries into pigment, glaze and stone.
